Good Hoots: Shelter Craft | Prairie Grass B. Banner

Good Hoots is the section of our Blog where we take a closer look at some of our most requested and top selling cannabis products here at Good Roots.

Welcome back to our latest Good Hoots, where today we take a look at a new offering from, well, two companies actually. But we'll get in to that.

The strain in question is B. Banner, better known as Bruce Banner, which is a potent cross of an all-time classic along with a lesser known flavour powerhouse. Terpy, trichomey, & tasty; this local craft-grown flower is worth a closer look. So let's get to it...

Shelter Craft B Banner

Shelter | Prairie Grass

So, this two company thing. The first, Shelter, is a pretty large mainly medical curator and packager of cannabis. What does this mean? It means they don't grow their own grass, but source the best from a number of growers, including some fairly small & family run operations.

OGEN Grow Facility

That's where Alberta's own Prairie Grass comes in! Growing on 4000 acres in Southern Alberta, this company, started by two sisters on their families land, are now growing some pretty great cannabis next to the regular foodstuffs found on a typical farm.

Bruce Banner

Big. Green. You can see how Bruce came across it's name. Though, surprisingly, the Hulk-sized buds won't be the first thing you notice when you take a bag of Shelter | Prairie Grass Bruce Banner in your hands.

The first thing you will notice is the packaging itself!

The single greatest piece of cannabis packaging so far, this bag is packed full of information about the buds inside. It's brilliant. Sure, it's got the regular info like Strain name and THC%, but they go on to list:

  • Lineage

  • Aroma

  • Flavour

  • Terpenes & %

  • Appearance

  • Cannabinoids & %

  • Breeder

  • Farm Location & Type

  • Trim Method

  • Drying Method

  • Cure Time

  • and perhaps the best of all, Harvest Date. Not Pack Date.

You feel like you know the weed before you've even opened the bag. It's a far cry from some companies efforts and hopefully sets the standards that others will soon follow.

Ok, enough about the fantastic packaging. On to the buds themselves.

Bruce Banner is a cross of that perhaps most often-crossed strain, OG Kush, along with the fruity & gassy number known as Strawberry Diesel, which is itself a cross of NYC Diesel & Strawberry Cough, by the award winning Kyle Kushman.

Upon opening, aromas of sweet gas and fruity cream waft from the bag and will quickly overwhelm any small space. If you are trying to be stealthy, this might not be the cannabis for you.

If this is the cannabis for you, at this point you'll be pretty eager to burn some down, and once you do, the cheese and diesel flavours release themselves and the hulk-like strong effects start to kick in.

An initial head rush gives way to a full on euphoria, leading out to a blissful relaxation that will leave you cerebrally stimulated and creatively inspired. This strain would be ideal for your drawing your very own Hulk comic... or for doing pretty much anything!

Support local and give this one a try. You should do it for the packaging alone.

Shelter | Prairie Grass B. Banner is available (most of the time) at Good Roots, the best local cannabis stores around! Take a closer look on our website and grab yours today.
