Good Hoots: Pure Sunfarms Headband
Good Hoots is the section of our Blog where we take a closer look at some of our most requested and top selling cannabis products here at Good Roots.
If you think about Headbands and marijuana, perhaps you think of long haired, headbanded hippies at Woodstock, or maybe even Tommy Chong, but that isn't where this strain borrows its name from.
Pure Sunfarms Headband actually takes its name from a rather unique effect that many users claim to experience after smoking this colourful & potent strain. Known for being particularly pungent & hard-hitting, this plant also has some pretty famous parents that provided it with many favourable qualities. Let's break out the headbands and take a closer look!
You can see more details on Pure Sunfarms' setup in our Good Hoots Blog on their Purple Sun God strain, but here's what you should know. These guys have been growing delicious veggies like tomatoes and peppers out in B.C. for ages, and made the switch to cannabis once legalized.
A couple of years in, and it's working out really well for them, and they have a bunch of great cannabis strains (Pink Kush, Death Bubba, & Critical Kali Mist spring to mind) on the market grown in massive greenhouses located in the Fraser Valley, and are now branching out in to other products such as CBD oil too.
Ok, let's get to the name first. The unique thing about the Headband strain is that many users report the feeling of actually wearing a headband!
What this is referring to is the sensation of a build-up of pressure around the temples, which if you believe the internet, is due to the dilation of blood vessels in the user's face. Is there anything this plant can't do?
Headband was always destined to be great, and one look at its family genetics will tell you why. Created from a cross of the backbone of so many great West Coast strains, OG Kush, and one of the most potent & pungent strains out there, Sour Diesel; Headband was born to be a legend.
With many possible (even at the same time) shades of green, and even sometimes purples if grown in the right climates, along with deep orange hairs and a plentiful snow-white dusting all over, Headband often provides buds that are real head-turners and would look at home gracing the (web)pages of any magazine.
Aromas of lemon and diesel permeate throughout and will quickly fill up any room you happen to find yourself in. This isn't a strain to be stealthy with but you will definitely make friends quickly! You'll get those same sour gassy flavours in there while smoking, along with a creamy, vanilla undertone.
Besides the headband effect, you'll certainly notice the potency as it tends to hit hard and quick. Once past the initial rush, Headband winds down wonderfully in to a chill experience. Your body will get the sensation of being quite heavy and it'll be pretty easy to get stuck to your couch. Get a great movie or album ready first!
Considered a strain more fitting for experienced users due to it's enhanced effects, it's a great option for relaxation and mental unwinding.
