We'll be using the Good Roots Blog to answer a lot of the common questions that we get here at the store, and we're starting out with perhaps the most common question right now: "When Can I Buy Edibles?"
Well, the answer is somewhat complicated. Even though Edibles (along with Beverages, Concentrates, Topicals, & Hashish) are technically now legal in Canada as of October 17th 2019, they won't be hitting retail stores until January 2020.
This is due to the fact that Health Canada needs to approve the various product lines, which then need to be ordered and shipped to AGLC, and then ordered and shipped to stores to be able to sell. So January it is.
Producers are still being rather vague when it comes to actual product line-ups so we're as much in the dark as you are apart from knowing that:
> Edibles will come in various forms (Baked Goods, Candies, Chocolates, etc.) and will max out at 10mg of THC per unit.
> Beverages are being bet on to be a big part of the Cannabis 2.0 roll-out seeing major brands getting involved with Cannabis Producers to create brand new Cannabis beverage products such as CBD Sports Drinks, Teas, and competitors to alcoholic beverages.
> Vape Concentrates will be available along with many new vaping options such as disposable vape pens.
> Hashish will be available. This old-school favourite provides a different 'high' experience than flower and comes in many forms.
As we draw nearer to the actual arrival of the various products, more information is sure to be made available and we'll be sure to 'Pass It On' to you once we can.
Update: Edibles and beverages have made it to stores with Tweed Houndstooth & Soda, plus Vertical Pomegranate Blueberry and Lemon Lime mini-drinks available now as well as a large selection of chocolates and gummies.
Vapes have made a big splash, already becoming a large part of the market with a variety of options already here and many more to come. Hash, Live Caviar, and Budder are expected to arrive before the end of June.
