"How Do I Make My Own Edibles?"

With all the current hype surrounding Edibles and their recent introduction to the legal market here in Canada, one thing that shouldn't be forgotten is how easy it can be to make your own!

With the help of the latest technology, making your own cannabis infused butters & oils (which is traditionally the most difficult part in the process) to create a huge variety of cannabis edibles is now incredibly easy. Plus, the same technology can also be used to create lotions, topicals, tinctures, and more.

Once you have your infused butter or oil, you can use it as you would normal butter or oil to convert practically any recipe in to a cannabis infused culinary wonder. Cookies, Brownies, Cakes, Rice Krispie Squares, Croissants, Sauces, Soups, Salad Dressings... just imagine the possibilities!

Both Recreational users and Medical users really love these devices as they can dramatically lower your cost per dose compared to ready made products on the market and are super easy to use.

Let's take a closer look...

Magical Butter

Perhaps the most well known of all the botanical extractors (a fancy name for a butter/oil maker) are the Magical Butter machines, and with good reason. The first such device on the market, these durable, well-made counter-top gadgets are ideal for even the most novice edible chef.

With just two simple steps of choosing your temperature and your time, all that's left is dumping your decarbed* weed and butter/oil/etc. in the container and the machine does the rest. Inside is an immersion blender style tool which combined with the built in heat mechanism grinds, heats, stirs, and steeps your herb in to the perfect edible ready product. Once the cycle is complete, give it a quick strain with the included strainer tool and you are done the hard part and ready to create some delicious treats.

The kit comes with everything you need to get started, including a recipe book to help you get those creative juices flowing, and a loveglove, which we were disappointed to find out is just a heat-resistant silicon glove.

Creating oil will typically take about an hour, butter around 2 hours, and tinctures can take 4 hours or more. The best part? It's self-cleaning, meaning more time for you to eat brownies.

You can find the Magical Butter MB2E right now at Good Roots on sale for $229.

Mighty Fast Herbal Infuser

Another very popular option is the Mighty Fast Herbal Infuser, which while being very similar to the Magical Butter, certainly lives up to its name and delivers cannabis infused butter in as little as 45 minutes!

Like the Magical Butter, the device is basically an immersion blender within a heated kettle-like device in which you add your decarbed* herb and your butter/oil/etc., and with a couple of button pushes you are in business.

With a variety of time/temperature cycles, the Mighty Fast can be used to create your standard butters & oils, but also tinctures, syrups, candies, and much more. They list a wide variety of recipes here on their website.

Besides the machine, Mighty also supplies you with a measuring cup and strainer, everything you need to start becoming a cannabis edible masterchef.

Coming in cheaper & faster than the Magical Butter, the Mighty Fast is a great alternative. You can find the Mighty Fast at Good Roots on sale for just $199.

UPDATE: We recently brought in the brand new Goodship Ready-To-Use Cooking Oil which is THC infused and ready to add to your favourite recipes, making it the easiest way to create your own cannabis edibles at home.

*Note: Decarbed weed is cannabis that has been decarboxylated, meaning that heat has been applied to the raw cannabis in order to turn the non-psychoactive THCA in to that wonderful psychoactive THC we all know and love. Generally, cannabis needs to be heated for a minimum of 35-40 mins at 220F for this process to occur. You can use a regular oven for this. Attempting to make edibles without following this step will result in greatly reduced potencies.
