San Rafael (Medreleaf)
We covered the background and facilities of San Raf in our earlier look at another strain favourite of theirs, Pink Kush, which happened to be our very first Good Hoots strain review. Check it out here if you would like to know more.
Since then, San Raf (known as Medreleaf on the medical side) has grown in terms of both stature as well as the extent of their offerings.
Branching in to Edibles, with their delicious Pineapple or Blaspberry gummies, as well as in to Vapes with both vape pens & cartridges, and of course oils, San Rafael has defined themselves as one of the top brands in Canada.
Delahaze
Delahaze is a bit of a rarity in the cannabis world in that it can trace its lineage back many decades, back to the 60's in fact. In a world of murky genetics and secretive breeding, this strain boasts a family tree it can be rightly proud of.
Initially created in Switzerland and then bred by Paradise Seeds in Amsterdam, Delahaze comes to us as a cross of two fruit flavoured heavy hitters, Lemon Skunk & Mango Haze. From there we can trace back the lineage of both parents and get a super interesting picture of how cannabis can be changed and improved over time, leading us all the way back to the original landrace strains out of Thailand and Afghanistan.
All that fantastic lineage and breeding leaves us with stereotypically sativa cone-like buds which are a dark forest green flush with plenty of bright orange hairs. You'll get hit with scents of mango and sweet & sour citrus when you dig in to the buds, and if you're lucky, you may just get hints of strawberry lemonade with your exhales. Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it...
That fresh, fruity flavour comes from the mix of terpenes, Myrcene & Terpinolene. Myrcene is found naturally in mangoes and gives that fruity flavour when found in weed. Terpinolene is known for giving a clean, fresh taste and this really pairs well with the mango and citrus flavours and makes Delahaze one of the tastiest smokes around.
Delahaze is a potent pot, usually coming over 20% and can hit quite hard. You'll want to start slow with this one. With a reputation of having an energizing effect as well as for getting those creative juices flowing, this is a great choice for banging through your cleaning list, working on your art, or just chilling the day away.
