Good Hoots is the section of our Blog where we take a closer look at some of our most requested and top selling cannabis products here at Good Roots.
This time around, we are taking a closer look at a popular strain developed right here in Canada... Jean Guy by 7 Acres.
This strain often comes in at higher THC %'s, and always looks and tastes great! Let's find out what makes it so delicious...
First founded as a medical marijuana company by Peter Herburger to help with his daughter's fibromyalgia, 7 Acres has grown from strength to strength, a fact proven by their back to back 'Brand of The Year' victories at the Canadian Cannabis Awards in 2019 & 2019.
Most producers use artificial lights, but 7 Acres does things a little differently. They use massive greenhouse like structures to allow the convenience of growing indoors while still harnessing the natural light of the sun.
The Story of Jean Guy
A proud Canadian strain, Jean Guy (or Denim Dude, as it is popularly known at Good Roots) was first developed and cultivated by The House of The Great Gardener in Quebec, where this strain is still popular to this day. It quickly became a favourite of the Montreal Compassion Club, which has been a medical cannabis dispensary since 1999, for those seeking relief from various ailments.
There is a bit of mystery and multiple theories regarding the precise genetic origins of Jean Guy, but most believe it to be a variation of the famous White Widow from the Netherlands, considered by many to be one of the all-time greats.
Given it's White Widow-esque qualities, you can certainly expect heavily frosted buds and a rather intense high. There's a sour/citrus scent and flavour to the buds, which will be typically a mix of dark and light green with plenty of strong orange hairs throughout.
It's a Hybrid strain, considered to be Sativa-dominant, and provides an intense uplifting, energetic feeling.
This award-winning bud comes in between 16-23% with 3.5g of dried flower coming in around the $40 mark.
